2013 Staff Updates

Meet the New Staff

Genaro VeruasaGenaro Veruasa. While busy with his ministry at UPLB, Gene willingly worked part-time as accountant at the Nav office for many years. With more demands in the office and Gene’s limited time, we have hired a new accountant, and Gene is now our internal auditor and the consultant to our new accountant. He is married to Glo.

Jenny Lynn Carigma. After working in a multinational company, Jen has decided to work with us as Program Development and Management Coordinator. Jen is also CHAI’s program director. She is Danny and Connie Carigma’s unica hija.

Tess Abaja Vital. Tess has been with the Navigators since her college days in Cebu where she finished Accountancy. She occasionally served the office in different capacities. She is now our new accountant. She is married to Jhong Vital. They are ministering among community people in Fairview, Quezon City, and are reviving the student work in the U-Belt in Manila.

The Vitalizes. Del and Perla are assigned in Bicol as intern staff. They will be responsible for the work in the region, which includes mentoring our leaders and developing communities in the area.

Cristina Samonte. Christine is our new bookkeeper. She worked in different companies before joining the Nav office. She worships the Lord at Victory Christian Fellowship.

Ivory Anne V. Cruz. Ivy is assigned at the NavLit as Inventory Clerk. She reports to Erline Guzman, NavLit manager. Ivy attends the Jesus Is Lord (JIL) Church.

Lawrence and Jasmine Ruth Esguerra live in La Trinidad, Benguet. They have 3 children—Elijah Val, Jewel Lois and Luke Jaden. Lawrence’s first involvement with the Navigators was through Dr. Ed Lorico in 1984. He joined the Nav Club with other Ramon Magsaysay High School students in Cubao. He and his wife are associate staff. They are assigned at Benguet State University and report to Ike and Liza Enriquez.

Ben and Connie Lawagan are both Ifugao but live in La Trinidad, Benguet, for their ministry. They are intern staff with the Navigators assigned to the Benguet State University. They report to Ike and Liza Enriquez. They have 4 daughters—Sarah Grace, Bency Joy, Beulah Faith, and Shekinah Ruth. It is exciting to see how they are able to naturally connect with their own people.

Deepak and Rheena Kataria are Indian missionaries to the Philippines. They were businessmen from Bangalore who felt the Lord’s calling for them to do ministry here in Davao City. They are going to reach out to the growing population of Indian medical students and to local business people. They have three children. The eldest studies in a university in Bangalore. The younger boys, Anand and Aashirwad, go to Faith Academy in Davao City.

Lilibeth P. Poca graduated from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines with a degree in accountancy. She has been our bookkeeper since February 1, 2013. She is married to Rodolfo Poca. They are blessed with 4 children: Rudolph Angelo, Rodolfo Jr., Joash Rodolf, Rodolf Joseph Faust.

Mary Grace Canlas has been working with us since March 1, 2013. She will be Minnie’s assistant, helping in the office and building concerns. She is attending the Lord of the Harvest Community Church as an active member. She is single.

Kristoffer Lawrence S. Urbina, “Buboy” for short, is our inventory clerk at the Nav Literature Department. He reports to Erline Guzman, our NavLit manager. Just like Lilibeth and Mary Grace, he worships the Lord in the Harvest Community Church. He is also single.

The New Youth Development Facilitators

Remar Ola. Tonton has decided to extend his training as YDF for another year. He is from Iloilo. His dual role as YDF is to assist Minnie in the office and help Jhong Vital in reviving the work at U-Belt in Manila.

Jonathan Victolero. His term started last January and ends this December. He is from Davao and tasked to revive the work at the University of South Eastern Philippines, his alma mater. He reports to Fred Nadela, Southern Mindanao Nav coordinator.

Gelbert Paler. Omar Ginon led him in a Bible Study at Araneta University-La Salle in Malabon, Metro Manila. He is assigned in the main campus of Eastern Samar State University at Borongan, Eastern Samar, with Sharon Singzon as his supervisor.

Norvie Agustin. He has extended his term for another year. A Cagayan de Oro (CDO)Nav contact, he assists Ed Amper in the student work in CDO.

Nancy Galdo. She was an Education student when she came to know the Lord through the Navigators in CDO. Nancy and Norvie assist Ed Amper in developing campus ministry in the region.

Howell Cenzon. Omar Ginon has helped him in his walk with the Lord. Both go to the same church. Howell, with a few others in his church, attended the Navigators’ Asia-Pacific Connect Conference in Singapore. He is assigned in Cebu to assist Robert Base at CIT University.

Petite John Jaudines. He is from Iloilo. His Nav friends recommended him to be a YDF to help in the ministry at CPU in the same city. Kim Sison and Jun Espiritu, CDM staff, have greatly influenced his thinking in doing the ministry especially in terms of discipleship.

Rose Abigail Corpuz. Aby’s only connections with the Navigators are her siblings, who were involved with the Navigators in Cabanatuan City. She attended the recent Summer Training Program that challenged her to join the YDF program. She is assigned in Agoo, La Union. She reports to Lany and Yolly De Leon.

Resignations

Donna Lydia Sytamco has tendered her resignation effective the end of March. You will still meet her at the NavLit once in a while on a contractual basis. She wants to pursue her dream of becoming a high school teacher.

Jenny Sotelo resigned as bookkeeper last January 31, 2013. She passed the CPA board exam last year and wants to use her expertise in auditing. She is now working in one of the biggest oil companies in the country.
