Their Ministry
Jong and Tess believe it’s has been a great privilege for them to serve the Lord full-time with the Navigators for the past 15 years. Their ministry is focused among youth in the Philippines, particularly the kids in their own neighborhood. They seek to help the next generation by equipping them with the knowledge and power of our Savior, Jesus Christ. In helping them to obey God in their youth, they will be empowered to permeate society with the Gospel.
Background
When Jong was in high school, he saw early on that God was already preparing him for missions. He wanted to serve God as a priest, but only got as far as the Knight of the Altars – a sacristan who assists the priest during holy mass. He came to know the Lord after my high school days on Sept. 21, 1979. Incidentally, that was also his physical birthday. Later on during his college days, he got involved with the Navigators. It was then in 1983 that he became an obedient disciple of God. He became a National Trainee with the Navigators to pioneer the high school ministry in Cubao and later on, in Tugeugarao as an Intern Staff. After one year he returned to Manila to work with high schoolers in the Sibikong Kabataang Pinoy ministry. Around this time he met his wife, Tess, and they spent the first 10 years of marriage doing ministry among youth.
In December of 2002, they felt a desire to be involved as overseas missionaries in Malaysia. Their two-year assignment was among youth, but after just 3 months their plans were apparently not God’s plans—they had to return to the Philippines.
Right now they are ministering right in their own barangay (village) organizing community sports and development programs for the youth. His natural leadership in the community provides him various opportunities to demonstrate and proclaim the gospel
Please consider giving to Jong and Tess’s family and ministry needs. They are raising a monthly operational budget of P30,000.00 or US 600 dollars
