Personal and Ministry Background
Having come from a troubled family, Jek's young life had no meaning or
direction—and was wrought by the vices of this world. In college, he came
to know the Gospel through his classmates and was helped by a Navigators
staff assigned in Cebu City. It was by the grace of God that after
graduation, Jek became a Navigator National Trainee for one year,
assigned to Araneta University (Manila).
After that he returned to his hometown in Davao City and worked as
purchaser in the hardware section of a large department store.
Dissatisfied with his job, he left the position in 1990 and became an
intern staff with the Navigators. He was assigned in University of
Mindanao (UM), Davao City for two years.
Then he went into the framing business in 1992. Blessed by God, his craft
expanded to Cagayan de Oro and Iligan City which was his business base.
He sometimes fellowshipped with the Navs in this city and was here that
he met his wife, Susan, who was then involved with the Nav Professionals
Ministry. They got married in 1997 and were soon blessed with a daughter,
Chiqui (8).
In 2003 he was led to full-time ministry. The work is with students at
Mindanao State University, in Iligan City. This school is known as a
center for excellence for Physics, Chemistry and Engineering courses.
Because of this, students from various provinces in Mindanao flock to
this school in search of a quality education. Bible studies among these
students are conducted in the boarding houses and in the park near the
school.
Jek's desire is to help the students build a good future (earthly and
spiritual) by pointing them to Christ and to help them to be grounded in
God's word.
Please consider partnering with Jek and Susana as they dedicate their
lives to the expansion of God's Kingdom in Iligan City.
