Personal and Ministry Background
Bobot encountered the Lord when life for him was so desperate and
hopeless. Never landing for a job for two years since passing the
Board Licensure Exams for Mechanical Engineers was devastating. His
spiritual quest begun with this question: "Lord, if you really
are existing, give me a job so that I can support my siblings who are
still in the university".
He believes that his work in an oil manufacturing plant in Cagayan de Oro
City in 1986 was God-given. A certain Nav alumna who was their laboratory
technician shared her faith to him. In January 1986, he entrusted his
life completely to God. From there, life was never the same again as he
found himself in a closer walk with God and his increasing love to share
his faith to people around him was evident. Outlook in life has changed
dramatically. He feels that sharing the Lord Jesus Christ to everyone is
of prime importance than earthly gain.
Jean became Christian when she was in college at Ateneo de Cagayan
(Xavier University) in 1983 through the Navigators. She is a teacher by
profession.
They knew each other and became friends in the Navigator fellowship.
Consequently, as friends, they became deeply involved both in students
and professional ministry. Their active involvement in the ministry helps
them to know God deeper. It was on that context that God led them to be
committed to each other. Bobot's resignation from job to join the
Navigator National Trainee Program in a Muslim region of Mindanao in 1990
was an indication of his genuine love for the lost.
Jean has been influencing students and officemates through her faith and
life of genuine witness to Christ. She has been fruitful to both in her
personal and spiritual life. They were married in 1991, after Bobot's one
year stint in the seminary and the FOCUS ministry.
After several years of prayer and consideration in 1998, with their two
kids, they resigned from their respective jobs. Bobot traded his
promising sales career with the top Heavy Equipment Distributor in the
country for lost souls. Jean, without hesitation, gave up her teaching
career with Montessori School in Cagayan de Oro City. Together they
traded their career and together they decided to embark into full-time
work with the Navigators. Their first assignment was in Davao City. Both
of them enjoy working full-time. Sharing the gospel to both mainstream
Catholics and FOCUS students in Davao was very exciting to them. Their
ultimate desire is to join with other missionaries in bringing and
sharing the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ to the FOCUS community in the
10/40 window and beyond.
Recently, with the support of his wife Jean, Bobot is taking an active
significant role being a member of the Philippine Navigators National
Leadership Team (PNNLT). Though busy in the ministry, Bobot and Jean did
not lose sight of the 10/40 windows. Aside from his administrative and
leadership responsibility, he visits a FOCUS people populated area in
Metro Manila to share the love of the Lord Jesus Christ.
