Personal and Ministry Background
I first heard the gospel when I was 15 years old through the preaching of
a pastor. I was convicted of my sin and my great need for salvation so I
readily invited Christ to be my personal Lord and Savior. The following
year I entered the university and God led me to a Christian instructor who
was involved with the Navigator Ministries. She invited me to a bible
study and helped me grow up in my Christian life. For the whole five years
at the university, I was trained and equipped by the Navigators in
evangelism and discipleship. In 1990, I joined the Navigators as a staff
trainee assigned to the Nav Club (an outreach for high schoolers). After
that, I worked with another high school outreach called SIKAP (Sibikong
Kabataang Pinoy) under the leadership of Philip Flores until 2000. I also
went back to school to pursue a master's degree in Biblical Counseling at
Alliance Biblical Seminary. Shortly after, I worked with a Christian drug
rehabilitation center for women for almost four years.
It was during the first three years of my Christian life when I started
praying about being involved in foreign missions. Late 2004 I started
seriously praying about going to Cambodia as a missionary. While working
at Mt. Moriah Student Center Foundation, I took the TESOL training as one
of my preparations in going to Cambodia. Later, in August 2006, I finally
moved to Phnom Penh. I am now in Cambodia to be a small yet nevertheless
significant part in extending the kingdom of God in this land. I am
teaching English to Khmer people, something I find to be a wonderful
avenue of helping them not just connect to the world out there, but most
of all connect to the One who loved and and died for them.
