Personal and Ministry Background
Danny graduated from the University of the Philippines in Los Baños and it was there that he met the Lord as a freshman through the Navigator ministry in that campus. He got in contact with the Navigators through his brother and sister who were already involved with the Navs at that time. During a Summer Training Program he attended in 1983, God put in his heart the desire to serve the Lord full time. In the meantime, he helped other students know the Lord and to grow in their relationship with Him.
Angie started going to Sunday school when she was 6 years old when her dorm mistress brought her to Bacolod Trinity Church. However, it was only during her 2nd year in high school that she surrendered her life to the Lord Jesus Christ. In 1982, while in the St. LaSalle University in Bacolod City, she committed herself to serve the Lord full time. She was actively involved in church as well as in IVCF.
Danny came from Davao City while Angie came from Bacolod City but they met each other in a local church in Bacolod, got married there and then moved to Davao City and settled there for seven years.
It was in 1996 that Danny’s desire and Angie’s commitment to serve the Lord full time was realized.
Their first assignment was the student ministry in U.P. at Los Baños. It was there that both of them realized that there is an urgent need to empower students to do the campus ministry so that they are able to do it themselves. This would help in reaching out to more campuses because it could not be done one staff to one campus at a time. The approach worked in UPLB and it also worked in the Central Philippine University in Iloilo City which started to be student-led in 2004 – three years after it started in 2001. As of now, with the help of the CPU students, Danny and Angie have started ministries in two more campuses – U.P.V. in Miag-ao, Iloilo and U.P.V. in Iloilo City. C.P.U. and U.P.V. Iloilo City are now praying to reach out to the Western Visayas State University and San Agustin University respectively.
While these ministries were going on, Danny was tasked to supervise the ministries in Cebu City in June of 2005 and eventually the whole of Visayas in July of 2006.
Danny and Angie hopes to contribute to the whole Navs work by helping other Navs areas do constituent-led ministries (campus, community, professionals).
By January of 2008, Danny, as one of member of the National Leadership Team (NLT) with three other staff will co-lead the Philippine Navigator Ministries. |
